Artist and curator Rebekah Molander presents

Sugar Coated Wrecking Ball, a powerful showcase of artwork by seven exceptional Houston based Female Artists. Molander writes: "They say women are made of sugar and spice and everything nice, but we are so much more. We are a beautiful balance of power and grace, we are the strength of a storm, with the delicate ability to be soothe and comfort. We are wild and fierce. We are breathtaking.We are bold." 

For this exhibition, seven women bring seven different styles and approaches to bear, redefining “BOLDNESS” in a whole new way, expressing each of their own realities through color, through paint and through glass. Step into their world through art.

Rebekah Molander's densely but subtly layered paintings draw the viewer into otherworldly scenarios.

Suzy Raymor captures the essence of playful and serene moments through vibrant pop art.

Monica Melgar’s art is centered around the exploration of intricate line work and vibrant color.

Amy Malkan is highly influenced by her travels and experiences, her vibrant art reflects her culture and the world as she sees it.

Deb Tish creates art using texture, color and movement of glass to depict nature in an abstract and realistic way.

Faye Barber creates powerful pieces by mixing realism and whimsical elements creating a unique, dynamic and uplifting vibe.

Toria Hill uses layers of spray paint and ink to create luminous works that explore the subconscious mental process.

 

The exhibition is on view in the Bay 100 Gallery of the Silos at Sawyer Yards studio building from February 7 to March 29. The gallery is open to the public from 9-5pm Monday through Saturday.
